Säpinää x Epic Scape

Where do Helsinki's punks hang out?

You step out of the backstage room. The band has split up, because your boyfriend had enough of you. He was the star guitarist. The drummer and the bassist walked out in the same breath. The gig is coming up and there is nobody to play it. You have to put a new band together, fast. But where do Helsinki's punks hang out?

Helsinki's punk scene lived in crypts, zine rooms, squats and on the street. Bands started in basements, zines came off home printers, and style was not something you learned. You lived it.

Säpinää x Epic Scape is played at Hakasalmi Villa for the whole run of the exhibition. The exhibition opens on 23 October 2026 and runs for ten months.
